Summary: The Student Success Coach performs a variety of tasks related to supporting college students who are low-income, first generation, and students with disabilities. The Student Success Coach helps students overcome barriers that may hinder their educational progress, which includes helping with technology, time-management skills, goal setting, and study strategies. The Student Success Coach works one-on-one with the Director of TRIO to establish the needs of the students and support the academic, personal, and professional success of students in the TRIO program.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assess student needs and develop individualized action plans for success focusing on developing appropriate and professional communication and time management skills.
  • Help students set and obtain academic and career-related goals through individualized coaching sessions.
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for students.
  • Teach computer literacy skills to students who are unfamiliar with current technology. (Computer literacy includes, but is not limited to, navigating Canvas and other digital platforms, accessing digital textbooks, using email, submitting assignments online, etc.)
  • Teach students how to find, open, and accurately use Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Conduct regular check-ins, offer support, and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Monitor progress of each student and complete required documentation.
  • Provide guidance and referrals to IvyCares or other outside agencies as appropriate.
  • Conduct all activities within the established guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and complete confidentiality.

Qualifications
  • Associate degree is preferred, although current post-secondary students with relevant skills/experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Computer literate with strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong presentation skills.
  • Knowledgeable and sensitive to the needs of low-income or academically disadvantaged students.
  • Must demonstrate ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees.

NOTE: This is a grant-funded position. There is no guarantee of employment beyond the grant period, which ends August 31, 2025. Although the grant is expected to end on that date, sometimes additional funding can be obtained to extend a grant beyond the end date. If that would occur, your employment under the grant might also be extended.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
